Upload an Image Using School of Law Workflow

Uploading an image to Cascade CMS is done through the Common Asset Factory, using the red plus sign for adding content.

The School of Law uses a workflow to submit files. A workflow is a series of steps that content must go through before it can be created, edited, copied, moved, renamed, and/or deleted by users in Cascade CMS.

Instructions

1. In the Site Content tree on the left, click on the _assets folder. Then click on the files folder or a subfolder within the files folder.

Select a folder by hovering over the asset name and clicking on the arrow (>) that appears to the right of the asset name. The contents of that folder will display on the right hand side of the page.

2. Look for a red plus sign in the topmost header area of the page, and click on Add Content.

3. Inside the Site Assets folder, select Image from the dropdown menu.

4. Drag and drop an image from somewhere on your computer into the browser window, or choose one from your computer. The File Name will automatically populate with the file name previously given to the image. Fill in the Alternative Text.

The File Name should include the image dimensions at the end, e.g. student-center-480x320. This will help when you are inserting the image into a page. The purpose of Alternative Text is to provide a description of the contents of an image file. One of the most common uses of Alternative Text is to provide text for visitors who can't see images in their browsers.

5. Click Preview Draft. After previewing the draft, click Submit to save the image to the CMS.

6. Preview Draft. After previewing the draft, click Submit to save the image to the CMS. Then click Start Workflow.

7. When the Start Workflow window appears, there is no need to change/type anything into the fields. Simply click on the blue button (Start Workflow).

This particular workflow (for images and PDFs) is Automatic, which means it doesn't require approval. The workflow is used to ensure certain actions are taken after an asset is created/edited, copied, moved/renamed, or deleted. For example: Automatic publishing when an asset is created or edited.

8. The workflow has been created, and the image has been successfully published.
