Publish Content
Table of Contents
Objective
This guide explains how to publish content in Cascade CMS so that pages, files, and other assets appear on the live website.
Overview
The Publish action is available for:
Pages
Images
PDF files
Microsoft Office Documents
Folders
Entire Sites
You can publish these assets to two destinations, Production and Staging. The Production destination is a web server that delivers what is often called the "live site." The Staging destination is a web server used to test your content before publishing to a production server.
Publish a Page
1. Select the desired index page in the Site Content menu on the left of the interface.
2. While previewing the page, click on the Publish tab.
You can also publish a page by right-clicking on the page name, and selecting the Publish option from the context menu.
3. Select one or more of the outputs to Publish to the destinations selected.
4. Click Submit.
It is our suggested best practice to Publish first to the Staging destination. Once you have reviewed your content on the Staging server, you can then Publish to the Production server.
Publish a Folder
1. Select the desired folder in the Site Content menu on the left of the interface.
2. While previewing the contents of the folder, click on the Publish tab.
You can also publish a folder by right-clicking on the folder name, and selecting the Publish option from the context menu.
3. Select one or more of the outputs to Publish to the destinations selected.
4. Click Submit.
Best Practices
✔ Always preview content first
✔ Confirm images and documents are published separately
✔ Double-check links, especially internal links
✔ Follow accessibility and metadata standards
✔ Use Staging for review when available
Common Publishing Scenarios
Publish a page with images
→ Make sure images are published before publishing the page.
Publish a PDF or Office document
→ Publish the asset first, then publish the page that links to it.
Content requires approval
→ Submit for approval, then track it through the workflow.
Troubleshooting
Content not visible after publishing
→ Confirm you published to Production (not just Staging), and verify site navigation.
Broken image or link
→ Verify the linked asset was also published.
