Disable Publishing
Table of Contents
Objective
This guide explains how to disable publishing for pages and assets in Cascade CMS. By following these steps, you can prevent an asset from being published to the two available destinations. This is particularly useful when you have a page still in development and not yet ready for public viewing, ensuring it won't be published accidentally.
When to Use This Process
Use this process when you need to:
Keep Work-in-Progress Offline: Ensure unfinished pages or folders stay unpublished within the CMS.
Prevent Overwrites: Protect specialized or experimental folders during full-site publishes.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Select the desired asset from the Site Content menu on the left of the interface.
2. While previewing the asset, click on the Edit tab.
3. In the Configure tab, uncheck Include when publishing. This will disable any future changes to the asset from being published to the web server.
4. Click Preview Draft. After previewing the draft, click Submit.
If publishing is disabled at the folder level, no pages or assets contained within that folder will be able to publish.
Important Notes
Disabling publishing does not delete the item.
To effectively "freeze" any existing content on your website, consider unpublishing it before disabling the publishing function for the asset in question. If you want to remove content from Cascade CMS altogether, use the delete function.
